Revelation 21:4 Study: How to Get Rid of Pain and Live the Beautiful Life
Today’s Verse
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
– Revelation 21:4
Thoughts on Today’s Verse…
This is God’s glorious promise to us, and everyone hopes to gain this promise from God. Especially now that disasters are growing ever greater, people’s lives are getting increasingly difficult, and people feel that life is very hard and tiring, having an even greater yearning to soon get rid of pain and live the beautiful life without pain and tears. Now, a problem arises: God’s promise is glorious, so how can we get His promise? Some people may say, “Our sins are redeemed when we believe in the Lord, and God no longer regards us as sinful. As long as we do not forsake the name of the Lord and never depart from His way, the Lord will take us to a wonderful destination when He returns.” Does this belief they hold accord with the Lord’s will? The Bible says, “Blessed are they that do His commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city” (Revelation 22:14). “Whoever commits sin is the servant of sin. And the servant stays not in the house for ever: but the son stays ever” (John 8:34–35). God’s word says: “You must know what kind of people I desire; those who are impure are not permitted to enter into the kingdom, those who are impure are not permitted to besmirch the holy ground. Though you may have done much work, and worked for many years, in the end if you are still deplorably filthy, then it will be intolerable to the law of Heaven that you wish to enter My kingdom! From the foundation of the world until today, never have I offered easy access to My kingdom to those who curry favor with Me. This is a heavenly rule, and no one can break it!” (“Success or Failure Depends on the Path That Man Walks”).
From this, we can see that God is righteous and holy, and that those who have not achieved purification are not qualified to inherit God’s promise and enter a beautiful destination. And what about us? Although our sins are forgiven for believing in the Lord and we can often pray and attend gatherings, we are still capable of involuntarily committing sin and resisting God, and we cannot escape the bondage of sin at all. Then how can we possibly qualify for God’s promise? So how can we get rid of corruption and be cleansed, gain God’s promise, and live the beautiful life without pain? The Lord Jesus prophesied: “I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth” (John 16:12–13). “Sanctify them through Your truth: Your word is truth” (John 17:17). And 1 Peter says, “For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God” (1 Peter 4:17). The Lord Jesus prophesied His return many times, and these verses are His prophecies for the work He’d do when He returns, which is expressing many truths to do the work of judgment, leading people into all truths, fully saving mankind from sin and from Satan’s forces, and ultimately taking us into His kingdom so we have a beautiful destination. That’s why we absolutely have to accept the Lord’s work of judgment when He returns. Until we gain the truth, we can’t be fully cleansed of corruption, our sinful nature can’t be resolved, and we can’t truly come to submit to God, fear God, and love God. That’s the only way to cast off sin and become holy, and be worthy of entering God’s kingdom and live the beautiful life without tears and pain. It can be seen that accepting the work of judgment and purification of the returned Lord is the only path for us to escape from sin and pain, enter God’s kingdom and live the beautiful life.
Just as a paragraph says: “Though Jesus did much work among man, He only completed the redemption of all mankind and became man’s sin offering; He did not rid man of all his corrupt disposition. Fully saving man from the influence of Satan not only required Jesus to become the sin offering and bear the sins of man, but it also required God to do even greater work to rid man completely of his satanically corrupted disposition. And so, now that man has been forgiven of his sins, God has returned to the flesh to lead man into the new age, and begun the work of chastisement and judgment. This work has brought man into a higher realm. All those who submit under His dominion shall enjoy higher truth and receive greater blessings. They shall truly live in the light, and they shall gain the truth, the way, and the life”.
“The purpose of God’s work of chastisement and judgment is in essence meant to purify humanity, for the sake of the ultimate rest; without such cleansing, none of humanity could be classified into different categories according to kind, or enter into rest. This work is humanity’s only path to enter into rest” .
