God’s Words Led Her to Overcome Extramarital Temptations

By Xiaonuo

Nuo’s husband is always irritable and gets angry at her over small things so easily, and sometimes even beats her. Considering the two children, she bears and puts through it. However, her husband begins to cheat on her, which brings her more suffering.

When Nuo is in pain and helpless, a male named Yin, her husband’s friend, appears, and gives her special care and attention. When she doesn’t have enough hose and cable to water the land, Yin lends her actively. He has always been there for her, which attracts her attention. Thereafter, whenever her husband loses temper with her, Yin comes to comfort her. As time goes by, Nuo begins to hope that if her husband was half as good as Yin, that would be wonderful.

One day, Yin said to her, “You are so capable, and good looking. But your husband messes around. You are tired every day, and I am really sad for you.” Nuo feels warm about these words, wondering, “Why is he more concerned about me than my husband? Is he into me? That would be great if my husband also showed me care and solicitude like Yin …” She feels a bit blamed for unknown reasons while thinking this way.

Nuo believes in the Lord, and she finally realizes that her thoughts are absurd. She is a married woman. Although her husband betrays her, she cannot do things that humiliate God. But when she thinks of her ruthless husband and thoughtful Yin, she has an irresistible desire to be together with Yin.

Fortunately, she finally gets aware that her imagining things are so wrong, so she kneels before the Lord and prays, “My Lord, my husband has betrayed me many times, and I am in great suffering. I am thinking about being together with another man, because I want to be cared for. My Lord, I know it is not the right thing to do. Please guide me to overcome the flesh temptation.” After praying, she is reminded of the Lord’s words, “You shall not commit adultery” (Matthew 5:27). She thinks it is God’s warning. God is holy and dislikes filthy people, loathes nothing more than licentious behavior. Next, she thinks about David in the Bible, who was cursed by God for occupying Uriah’s wife. The sword never departed from his house. It can be seen that God’s disposition is intolerant of people’s offenses. Even though David was the king admired by people, he still suffered the punishment he deserved. Thinking of this, Nuo gasps, “That is too close. Without the timely guidance of the Lord’s words, I would set foot onto the path of no return. If I did the thing that offended God’s disposition, I would regret it for the rest of my life.”

Later, Nuo read more words of the Lord, “But I say to you, That whoever looks on a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart. And if your right eye offend you, pluck it out, and cast it from you: for it is profitable for you that one of your members should perish, and not that your whole body should be cast into hell” (Matthew 5:28-29). Pondering the Lord’s words, Nuo thinks about her frequent contacts with Yin. She likes to hear the comforting words from Yin and enjoys his care, which she cannot get from her husband. But in essence, this is committing adultery in her heart. She then thinks of herself as ugly. If she wasn’t guided and enlightened by the Lord’s words, preventing her from doing evil, she would be trapped into the temptation, unable to free herself from it. She practically feels the Lord’s protection, and meanwhile, she feels that Satan is staring at her at any time, using all kinds of trickery to lure her into temptation. Without the heart that fears God, she would easily be tempted by Satan and do things to offend God and disgust God. At this point, Nuo is full of gratitude toward the Lord.

One night, Nuo is resting in the bedroom after finishing her housework; her daughter is doing homework in another room and her son is playing by himself. Suddenly, Yin appears behind her back quietly and hugs her when she is totally defenseless. She is scared and pulls away from him, saying to him, “I am a believer in the Lord. My husband indeed betrays me, but I cannot violate morality …” Nuo refuses Yin decisively. After hearing her words, Yin feels ashamed and leaves.

From that time on, Yin never comes to Nuo and Nuo takes care of her children peacefully. Moreover, she regularly attends meetings with brothers and sisters. With the guidance of the Lord’s words, her heart is filled with peace and stability.
