Christian Testimony: Witting God’s Wondrous Deeds by Praying After Her Husband Had an Accident
By Qiaoqiao
I have been a believer in the Lord since 1987. It is the Lord who guides me forward step by step. For so many years, I have enjoyed the Lord’s abundant grace and witnessed His wonderful deeds. Especially, my husband met with an accident and suffered a brain hemorrhage, but he was cured by the Lord, from which I became more certain that the Lord is the only one true God who bestows life upon people and I confirmed in my heart that He is my only support.
One day at about 7 pm that year, I heard a sharp knock on the door, and when I opened it, I was dumbfounded. Two strangers were laboriously supporting my husband, who bowed his head, unable to walk, like a wooden man. I anxiously asked, “Why is he like this? What happened?” One person replied to me, “He had an accident. Their car was hit by another car. Two people were injured. We didn’t find your husband in the beginning, thinking he was trapped under the car. But after seeing him standing in the middle of the road, we then took him home.” (One person was the brother of the driver. Afraid of being picked on by me, they left in a hurry after dropping my husband around the doorstep.)
I immediately supported my husband, went inside the house and helped him lie down. But he was almost unconscious. I spoke to him; he opened his eyes, struggled to shake his head, waved his hands with a pained expression, indicating that I stop talking to him. He retched involuntarily, so I got him some water, but he threw up. I hurriedly went to our local health clinic and bought the medicine for increasing blood circulation, but he vomited again before he swallowed the medicine. I couldn’t bear to see he was suffering so much. We’ve been through a lot the whole night.
The next day, my husband still couldn’t get up and felt sick. I took him to see the doctor. Seeing the inspection report, I was dumbfounded: He got a traumatic brain injury with cerebral hemorrhage and needed immediate treatment. The situation was exacerbated by my husband’s sickness. Our children were still so young, and we didn’t have money for treatment. That was desperation. I then took out the money my husband intended to use for his small business, and handed it over to the hospital. Unexpectedly, it ran out in 2 days. Doctors urged me time and time again, “You really need to pay as soon as possible, or else we have to stop the treatment.” I was so sad, but I couldn’t cry. My husband had been unconscious, and the doctor urged me to pay the medical expenses, and moreover, my children were waiting for me to take care of them. My heart was broken. I asked the doctor, “Can my husband be awake? Is his sickness curable?” The doctor sighed and shook his head, saying, “It’s hard to say. Two times of brain hemorrhage have caused massive blood loss. Having been a doctor for so many years, I have never seen such a serious hemorrhage. I will try my best. It will be lucky if we can keep his life. He could possibly become a vegetable.”
I hardly collapsed after hearing the doctor’s words. In desperation, I thought of a scripture in the Bible, “For you have been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy” (Psalm 61:3). I suddenly had something to rely on, then I kneeled down and prayed to the Lord in tears, “Dear Lord Jesus, I have no way to go. You are a mighty doctor, full of authority and great power. Everything is possible with You. I am giving my husband completely to Your mighty hands. If he survives, I will bring him before You; If he dies, please prevent me from complaining to You. I am willing to obey Your sovereignty and arrangement.” After praying, I felt less afraid and helpless.
With the guidance of God, I raise the money for curing my husband. But the medicine didn’t work. He was in a coma for seven days and seven nights, and the doctor could do nothing about it. I spiraled into a deep depression, and all I could do was pray to the Lord in tears. After praying and fasting for seven days, a miracle occurred on the eighth day. My husband slowly opened his eyes, and said he was hungry. I kept thanking the Lord, who answered my prayers, and delivered my husband from the verge of death and saved his life.
From that day on, my husband got better and better, and he recovered after a month. Even the doctor said surprisingly, “That is a miracle. I didn’t expect that you could get up. You are so lucky. If it was more than one-tenth thick of a single hair, your nerves could be compressed. The blood was absorbed in the end, otherwise, you had to undergo cranial surgery. It would not be better than you are now.” I was so emotional after hearing the doctor’s words, which proved the Lord’s marvelous salvation. I blurted out, “Thank the Lord. I am a believer in the Lord Jesus.”
After his recovery, I then came before the Lord and had my pledges fulfilled. I shared the gospel to my husband and asked him to believe in the Lord in earnest. Afterward, he served the Lord full time in the church, and became a famous local preacher. One day, we together prayed and read the scriptures, and saw the verses, “A thousand shall fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you. Only with your eyes shall you behold and see the reward of the wicked. Because you have made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, your habitation; There shall no evil befall you, neither shall any plague come near your dwelling” (Psalm 91:7-10). I became more certain: It was God who delivered my husband from the valley of the shadow of death and gave him new life. The Lord is the almighty Savior who bestowed life upon people, and the eternal King. His authority surpasses the valley of the shadow of death. As long as we trust in the Lord, we will get His mercy and salvation. I will worship the Lord forever and ever. Amen.
